2025 VOTING
TO ASSIST NH RESIDENTS IN
REGISTERING TO VOTE:
The NH Division of Vital Records Administration has created free certified copies of New Hampshire vital records for voter registration purposes only. The certified copies can only be used when registering to vote and must be surrendered to the election official intaking the voter registration application.
The free certified copies available for free voter registration are only for NH birth, NH marriage, NH divorce, NH civil union, and NH dissolution. The records are issued through NH city and town clerk offices and the NH Division of Vital Records Administration. They will be printed on blue safety paper and have a raised seal. Additionally, the application for the free record can be found in SVRS Help Instructions and on our website at www.sos.nh.gov/proof-voter-registration-qualifications.
These free certified records are to assist voters with proving U.S. citizenship or helping voters who may have had a name change in NH from marriage, divorce, civil union, or dissolution. Please recognize them as you would other NH vital records with two additional details:
1. The clerk or supervisor intaking the voter registration application must keep the free certified copy with the voter registration form (do not return it to the applicant). Applicants must surrender the free certified copy they received. They cannot give you a photocopy and keep the original. Once acted upon by the supervisors, attach and file the free certified copy with the voter registration form.
2. The clerk or supervisor intaking the registration must document the following on the lines provided on the record:
· DATE SURRENDERED
· ELECTION OFFICIAL SIGNATURE
· TITLE
Additional information for applicants can also be found on our website at: www.sos.nh.gov/proof-voter-registration-qualifications.
