Title: relative to prohibiting the rental of residential property to individuals unlawfully present in the United States.
OPPOSE (S)(C)(EC)(T)(V)
"Lawfully present" is a difficult term to define and puts people at risk of a felony conviction. It could also lead to racial and ethnic profiling by potential landlords. The bill puts significant barriers in the way of people simply trying to find housing which NH's housing crisis already makes difficult enough.
House Education
Title: relative to the intervention of the department of education into a school or school district during a financial emergency. OPPOSE (S)(C
This bill would allow the Department of Education to take over operation of a school district in cases deemed a financial emergency. In other states, these kinds of takeovers have proven harmful to districts, and they exclude parents and communities from decision making. The bill also would allow the Department of Education to require the school district to renegotiate its employment contracts and reallocate its resources.
House Ttransportation
Title: relative to establishing a registration fee for bicycles and electric bicycles using state or municipally funded bike paths, trails, or roadways.
